WHAT IS TDM?

Taxonomy Data Manager (TDM) is a data governance tool that facilitates maintaining ongoing data quality in an organization. An existing taxonomy can be uploaded into the tool, and related meta-data for products can be defined and assigned to relevant products (noun-modifiers).

In addition to adding manufacturer and supplier information, the tool also enables users to edit descriptions and build values for corresponding attributes of a product. Thus, TDM offers a pre-defined template or structure that forms the basis of defining and assigning attributes to a range of products.

TDM’s automated description builder derives the short and long descriptions for an item based upon the attributes’ values outlined in the tabs. These attributes can be defined as mandatory or optional and the description order is derived based upon the sequence in which the attributes appear in the taxonomy definition.

  Taxonomies can be easily imported into the system. The taxonomy only needs to be in the specified format in an Excel sheet and can be imported into the TDM. Maintaining the taxonomy in an Excel sheet is easy for end users and thus makes usage of TDM easy.

• User defined taxonomy – users can define their own taxonomies and import into the TDM

• Data governance based on taxonomy
  The taxonomy specifies which attributes are mandatory and which attributes are optional. Additionally the taxonomy can also specify the data types for each attribute. All these rules are enforced by the TDM thereby ensuring good data quality.

• Simple review and approval process
  All data created can be reviewed for data quality. Only approved data will be available for export.
